I was raised by my grandmother, and from an early age, I grew up feeling a deep connection to the Buddha.
For a long time, I have carried the belief that the world of Buddhist art has the power to heal people’s hearts and awaken a sense of joy.Under the guidance of my master, I studied the world of Buddha passed down through tradition as part of my training. Eventually, I encountered the beautiful Buddhist art from ancient times—these were the preserved Tenpyō-era Buddhas.
The treasures and exquisite patterns I saw at the Shōsōin, where my grandmother once took me, became linked to my memories and deeply moved my heart with joy.
That experience was one of the reasons I embarked on the path of Buddhist painting.
The process of creating Buddhist paintings is a spiritual practice (“gyō”), a prayerful wish to convey the Buddha’s heart and teachings through the medium of brush and paper.
Tracing the sacred lines of Buddha, drawing with ink, and adding colors—this is the beginning of forming a connection with the Buddha through art. When the moment of applying pure ink arrives, one encounters both the Buddha and the inner Buddha-nature (the divine palace) within oneself.
It is a moment of realizing that the light of the Buddha, the primal light of the universe, and the boundless world are one with me.
If those who come into contact with my Buddhist paintings can feel the presence of the divine and bring the Buddha closer to their hearts, there is no greater happiness for me.
仏さまと芸術
私は祖母に育てられたこともあり、幼い頃から仏様を身近に感じ育ちました。
私の長い想いの中に、仏さまの芸術世界は人の心を癒やしてくれたり、歡喜を呼び起こしてくれるものではないかという思いがずっとありました。
師につき、修行の中で伝承された仏様の世界を学ぶ中、やがていにしえからの美しい仏様の芸術に出会いました。
それは遺された天平仏でした。
昔、祖母に連れられて行った正倉院で見た宝物や美しい文様世界が記憶と繋がり
私の心をうちのめし歓喜させました。
それが仏絵の道に入った一つのきっかけでもあります。
仏画制作は佛の御心や教えを筆や紙などをご縁として、私たちの中に移す願い祈りの「行」です。
仏線をたどり、墨で線を描き彩色していく…
それは一本の描線を縁として図画を書き仏様と仏縁を結ぶはじまりです。
清浄なる墨入れの時を期に、仏様と自己の内なる仏性（神の宮）とが出逢います。
それは仏様の光、宇宙初源の光、果てることのない世界と私とがひとつであると実感する時と言えます。
私の描いた仏画に触れられた方々が神仏の存在を知り、また、より身近に感じて頂けたら、この上ない幸せなことはありません。
